Map Hunt privacy policy

Last updated 4 November 2026

The short version

  • Map Hunt doesn't collect, send or share any information about you or your child.
  • It has no ads, no accounts, no chat, no analytics and no tracking.
  • It doesn't ask for internet access, so it can't send anything anywhere.
  • Scores and settings are saved on the device so the game remembers them. We never see them.

Who we are

Map Hunt: Geography Quiz Game ("Map Hunt") is made by Captain Emmy's Cove ("we", "us"). If you have any questions about this policy, email us at hello@captainemmyscove.com.

Information we collect

None. Map Hunt doesn't collect personal information from anyone, children included. It contains no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or social features, and it doesn't use any third-party services that could collect information.

The app doesn't request permission to use the internet. Android won't let an app without that permission make network connections, so the game has no way to send us, or anyone else, any information.

What the game saves on the device

So that it can pick up where you left off, the game saves a little information in its own private storage on the device:

WhatWhy
Settings: sound and music on or off, the chosen level and mapSo the game opens the way you left it.
Which places it has asked about recentlySo questions don't repeat too often.
Finished hunts: the date, hunt, level, coins won and answers givenTo show your best score, the daily hunt history and the round review.

None of this identifies your child, and none of it is sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android's settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Permissions

The only permission Map Hunt asks for is vibration, so the phone can give a short buzz when your child gets an answer right.

Sharing a daily score

After a daily hunt, a "Copy my score" button copies a short summary (the date, level, coins and a row of symbols for right and wrong answers) to the device's clipboard. Nothing is sent anywhere. It's up to you whether to paste it into a message, and that message is covered by whichever app you paste it into.

Children's privacy

Map Hunt is made for children aged 8 to 12. Because it collects no personal information at all, we don't hold any data about children and there is nothing for us to share, sell or delete. We designed it this way on purpose, following the spirit of the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code), COPPA in the United States and Google Play's Families policy.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Map Hunt changes what it does with information, we'll update this policy before that version is released, change the date at the top, and describe the change here.
